American Parkour Interview: Stephen Jepson - Never Leave the Playground
A Mover at Heart: Interview with Stephen Jepson
Wenxin Yang sat down with a very interesting man - me! I'm Stephen Jepson, an 85-year-old movement educator who's still going strong. Check out my interview.
I had the absolute pleasure of chatting with Wenxin about my life, from being a ceramics professor to spreading the message of "Never Leave the Playground." We talked on the phone, and I'm excited to share our conversation with you.
The Joy of Movement
People often ask me how I stay so active at my age. My response is always the same: "I get younger every year!" It's not just about physical movement; it's also about challenging both sides of your brain – every single day. For me, that means getting creative in the pottery studio (shop.neverleavetheplayground.com has some fantastic tutorials to inspire you) and pushing my limits with movement.
The Playground Doesn't Care How Old You Are
As I always say, "The playground doesn't care how old you are." It's a mindset, not an age. When we let go of our limitations and have fun, that's when the real magic happens. Whether it's playing parkour or simply taking a walk, find activities that bring you joy and make time for them.
Never leave the playground. Let's keep moving, learning, and growing together! "Challenge your body, challenge your mind – but most importantly, never lose your sense of play!"
