Quit Hungry for the Experience: A Mindset Shift for Learning Any New Skill
I get younger every year because I challenge myself physically and mentally. And that's exactly what I want to share with you today. When it comes to learning something new – whether it's a physical activity or a mental challenge – there's one crucial mindset shift that will make all the difference: quitting hungry for the experience.
Practice Frequently, But Not When Tired
If you want to learn something physically challenging, practice often and quit when you're hungry for more. I don't mean quit because it hurts or gets too difficult, but because your body (and mind) are craving that next session. For me, it's usually 2-3 times a week, but the key is consistency – not frequency. And please, don't practice when you're tired! That's just setting yourself up for injury and frustration.
The Power of Anticipation
Now, here's where things get really interesting. When I'm looking forward to my next session with excitement and anticipation, that's when the magic happens. So how do you cultivate this feeling? Imagine a golden thread fastened to the center of your chest, pulling you towards your next practice session. Set it for tomorrow at 8 AM – 10 AM – whenever works best for you! Challenge both sides of your brain – every single day.

Don't Practice Out of Obligation
The playground doesn't care how old you are. So, let's stop practicing just because we think we should or because it's good for us. Let's practice because we love the feeling of learning something new – of challenging ourselves and growing as individuals. When you approach your practice with a sense of joy and curiosity, that's when real progress happens.
Never leave the playground! Keep pushing yourself to learn, grow, and explore – every single day. And remember, "I get younger every year" because I challenge myself physically and mentally. Challenge both sides of your brain – every single day.
