My First Press Release: A Journey With Stephen Jepson
My First Press Release from Never Leave The Playground
I get younger every year, and I'm still learning new things! Take press releases, for example. I'm excited to share my own experience with you.
A Little History of the Press Release
The press release was first used in 1906 by Ivy Lee, a publicist who worked with the Pennsylvania Railroad after a train wreck that killed over 50 people. Instead of waiting for journalists to cover the story, Ivy wrote up a release and distributed it proactively. The press release was born!
When Was the Press Release Created?
The year was 1906, and it all started in New Jersey with a devastating train accident. At that time, the Pennsylvania railroad was at the center of the tragedy.
